The Proposed Projects

The Proposal

The Steamboat Springs Trails Alliance is a partnership between Routt County Riders, an International Mountain Bicycling Association ChapterThe Steamboat Springs Bike Town USA® InitiativeYampatika and the Steamboat Springs Running Series.  Our vision for Steamboat Springs, and this proposal, is to create the most accessible and progressive trail system in Colorado.  The result of this proposal will garner a Gold Level Ride Center® designation from the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA), a Platinum Bicycling Friendly Community designation from the American League of Bicyclists, and create a world-class destination for all trail users visiting or residing in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

This is about 46 trail projects, 130+ miles of trails and $500,000-$800,000/year towards trails.
We need your help, comment here.

A copy of the full proposal can be downloaded here.

Yampatika, Bike Town USA Initiative & the Steamboat Springs Running Series, are not requesting any funding for their own organizations from the accommodations tax committee. These organizations have donated their time in assembling this proposal and, as reflected in the document, will make additional in-kind contributions to the trails projects as they advance. All funds will continue to be received and administered by the City of Steamboat Springs.

Routt County Riders, an IMBA Chapter, has a history of cost effective trail building and intends on submitting bids for some of the individual projects listed in the proposal in addition to the project partners in-kind contributions of general oversight as the projects advance.

The goal is to stay within 30 minutes drive time of Steamboat Springs at this time.  This covers projects in the area shown below:
